July 2013. Tireless research over the past year uncovered 250 chapter mem-bers and 13 lines that were initiated through the Zeta Omicron Chapter at Bennett College from 1969-1980. Elev-en sorors initiated by Greensboro Alumnae chartered the chapter on May 18, 1969. The city-wide chapter was opened to students from the Uni-versity of North Carolina at Greens-boro and Guilford College located at Bennett College. The city-wide chapter name, Zeta Omicron, retired in 1980, was replaced with two cam-pus- s82 DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. based chapters; Omicron Delta at Bennett on Oct. 25, 1980 and Omi-cron Eta at UNCG on Feb. 15, 1981. Twenty-two sorors attended the reunion at the American Grill Restau-rant inside the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel. Seven of thirteen lines were repre-sented. The oldest line represented was the 15 Fiery Females (1973). The brunch followed the Ecu-menical Service on July 14, 2013. After all the screams, cheers and tears of joy expressed by many of the Zeta Omicron sorors, some of whom hadn’t seen each other in decades, brunch opened with the singing of the traditional Bennett College grace complete with three-part harmony. A complete hush came over the res-taurant as other restaurant patrons listened and later said they never heard grace sung before, and that it was beautiful. s Essay contest winners awarded during Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter’s Black History Month Heritage Program.
