Message from the National President Dear Sorors, First, let me say that it has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your National President during the 2013-2015 biennium. I am thankful and delighted to serve you once again during this 2015-2017 administration. Thank you all for your support and encouraging words that truly keep me afloat and able to carry out this labor of love that I am ever so bless-ed to have bestowed upon and entrusted to me. Last year appeared to fly by as we pressed upward and on-ward towards the goals of the organization. We have come a mighty long way – 103 years – and the journey still contin-ues… JOURNAL Spring 2016 s3 Dr. Paulette C. Walker and the work must go on. Second, it is with great pleasure that I present to you the Convention Edition of our DELTA Journal. In this edition, you will see highlights of the 52nd National Convention that took place in July 2015. The “Blazing” Southwest Region and the sorors of Houston really laid out the red carpet for us as we culminated the past two years of our “Uncompromising Commitment to Communities” and report-ed on how we continue to make a difference across this nation and around the globe through “Service, Leadership and Empowerment.” As you peruse this Journal, I hope you can be as proud as I am of how we have the ability to incorporate our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust into everything that we do. Whether when we are honoring our educators, stimulating the econ-omy of the cities we visit, recognizing chapters with exemplary World AIDS Day observances, attending 6 a.m. Delta S.I.Z.E.D. health activities, or galvanizing our sorors to demand social justice, our work continues even while fellowshipping, praising God together, and taking care of the business of Delta. Sorors, I am excited to see what 2016-2017 holds for us. Many blessing to you all and remember: Stay Aware, Stay Alert and Stay Active! There is much work to be done and we have come too far to fall asleep now! In Service, Leadership, Empowerment, Dr. Paulette C. Walker NATIONAL PRESIDENT
