PHOTO BY DONNAMARIA JONES As the new Regional Director of the Eastern Region, Soror Theljewa Garrett marks the 52nd National Convention as one of the most memorable moments of her almost 34-year membership in Del-ta. She experienced many emotions ranging from pure exhilaration and excitement to anxiety leading up to convention week. The very second she was robed for the Opening Ple-nary, DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. she become completely envel-oped in the history and the purpose of our great sisterhood. As she wait-ed for the processional to begin, she reflected on her huge responsibility and commitment to the Eastern Re-gion. She also prayed, “Please God don’t let me trip, drop the candle or forget how to speak.” Soror Garrett has heard nothing but praise from all who attended the 52nd National Convention. Sorors es-pecially enjoyed the keynote address delivered by our soror, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch. AG Lynch, spoke during the Social Action Lun-cheon and stressed the importance of understanding that: “Now is the time, at this moment of challenge and opportunity, in this season of dif-ficulty and hope, to raise our collec-tive voice and make ourselves heard.
