And the future of this country and this community has never been preor-dained. Now is the time.” The Eastern Region Sisterhood Luncheon was filled with fun. Sorors were asked to take selfies, which ap-peared instantaneously on screen. The state coordinators and facilita-tors brought in the cavalry with their special “Delta Stroll” and sorors were celebrated for their accomplish-ments, with a special video maga-zine of the Eastern Region Newslet-ter, “HERStories.” The Eastern Region supports the goals and mission of the Nation-al President, Dr. Paulette C. Walker. “The East” is working to achieve a set of goals that focus on Excellence and Purpose in the Region and on the YARD. The region will: D Fulfill its purpose by educating and training collegiate and alum-nae chapters on how to translate and better implement the initia-tives of the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust on the college campus and in the community through outstand-ing and continuous support of Project 13; developing creative programming and encouraging community partnerships and collaboration D Provide leadership develop-ment opportunities for colle-giate members by engaging them in meaningful work on region-al committees; by creating the 5 Star Advisor Initiative; and by ecouraging alumnae participa-tion in the LEAD Program D Use technology to maintain clear lines of communication between the National, Regional and Chap-ter levels by providing up to date information in The First Friday, the Collegiate Blog on the East-ern Region website and holding Fireside Chats with chapter pres-idents and members D Promoting sisterhood in the East by encouraging chapters to fo-cus on retaining their members using the National Membership Services Generational Plan and “Loving Sorors on Purpose with a Purpose” Soror Garrett encourages her Eastern Region sisters to stay com-mitted to the work of Delta. To en-hance the region’s vision through the work of its chapters and to never drift away from serving the commu-nity.
