52nd National Convention R E G I O N A L C O V E R A G E s56 The Farwest Region Salutes the Past, Looks to the Future BY SHANTÉ MORGAN-DURISSEAU The Faithful, Fierce, Focused and Fabulous Farwest Region of Del-ta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incor-porated paid homage to its “illus-trious” history at the 52nd National Convention Farwest Regional Luncheon on July 26 at the Hil-ton Americas Hotel. Sorors were welcomed to the luncheon, which was themed: “An Extraordinary Sis-terhood: Rooted in our Past, Expanding our Future,” by Far-west Regional Director Sandra Phillips Johnson and Farwest Regional Representative Mari-ah M. Kelly. Sorors Johnson and Kelly recognized the Farwest’s past regional directors, regional representatives and national of-ficers from the Farwest includ-ing Soror Mona Humphries Bai-ley, 17th National President. “The illustrious past lead-ership of our region, legendary giants such as Vivian Osborne Marsh, 7th National President and 17th National President Mona Humphries Bailey have and continue to motivate us to excel,” Johnson said. She said the Farwest Region’s past in-spires sorors to heed National President Dr. Paulette C. Walker’s call to “commit to dream, to fly and to expand our future in ser-vice, sisterhood and leadership!” The Farwest leadership team recognized the superior academic performance of the more than 85 percent of collegiate sorors who exceeded a 2.75 cumulative GPA. They also recognized both collegiate and alumnae chapters implementing DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. outstanding programs – aligned with the Sorority’s Five-Point Program-matic Thrust. The Farwest Region also honored its Delta Dears. s Soror Sandra Phillips, Farwest Regional Director, and Soror Mariah Kelley, Farwest Regional Representative, present the San Bernadino Riverside Alumnae Chapter with an award during the Farwest Sisterhood Luncheon.
