Members from across the region who were in atten-dance at the convention were hon-ored for their continued service to Delta Sigma Theta – some with over 70 years of membership in Delta. The Southwest Region’s mission supports National President Dr. Pau-lette C. Walker’s vision for the So-rority as a whole. Soror Rogers says the Southwest seeks to strategically develop and implement innovative ideas, programs and projects that will strengthen and position commu-nities. The goals of the region are to provide increased communication and infra-structure in the region, to increase communication within the region and responsiveness, to in-crease activities in the areas of do-mestic violence, racial profiling and gun violence, and to strengthen and develop chapter programming to in-crease innovative chapter program-ming in the region. “These goals are aligned with the mission and vision of the nation-al organization. We strive to encour-age sorors to be fully involved with the sisterhood and the impactful pro-grams implemented,” said Rogers. Both the regional director and re-gional representative hope the cele-bration at the regional luncheon en-couraged members to continue the work of Delta Sigma Theta in their communities throughout the Blaz-ing Southwest Region. It is their de-sire that the members will “Bolster the Blaze” in their respective chap-ters and the region. “It is with much love and respect that we thank the National Executive Committee, Past National Presidents, Executive Board, National Committee Members, convention coordinator, hostess chapters, regional leadership and membership as well as sorors across the world for their role in mak-ing the 52nd National Convention a ‘Blazing’ success,” Rogers said. s During the Southwest Regional Sisterhood Luncheon members join the processional to incite excitement for the 2016 Regional Conference cycle.
