NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS’ New Management Team Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s National Headquar-ters in Washington D.C. has an addition to its man-agement staff. On Oct. 31, 2016, Soror Dorcas Washington joined the Headquarters staff as the Deputy Executive Director. Soror Washington is the first dep-uty executive director since the 1990s when the organization last included the position in its managerial structure. As Deputy Executive Director, Soror Washington will provide opera-tional leadership in the areas of Finance, Technology, Mem-bership, Intellectual Properties, Programs, Public Relations and Events. She is tasked with ensuring that the team at the National Headquarters provides efficient and effec-tive services to members, chapters, National Executive Board members and the National President. In preparation for her assignment as Deputy Executive Director, Soror Wash-ington spent more than 25 years managing people and processes in public and private environments. While her degree is in Hu-man Resources Management, her experi-ence includes contract management, event planning, account management, customer relations and budget management. She de-scribes herself as a transformational leader 30 • Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. specializing in the art of identifying and developing talent to exceed expectations. Dorcas was initiated into the Kappa Upsilon Chapter at Auburn University on November 24, 1985. She has been an active member of five alumnae chapters in two regions and has held a position on the Executive Committee in each. So-ror Washington serves as the Immediate Past President and chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Tallahassee Alumnae Chapter. She is also certified as a DID trainer, membership intake trainer and collegiate chapter advisor. Staff Members on the Rise Soror Gar-lenda McNair has been promoted to Director of Prop-erties and Facilities Management for the Headquarters office. She has been a member of the staff since 1978, starting in the administra-tive services department. She previously served as the Coordinator of Properties and Facilities (now Properties and Facilities Management). Soror McNair was initiat-ed into the Montgomery County (MD) Alumnae Chapter in 1985 and is currently a member-at-large. Soror Carolyn McCrea has been promoted to Di-rector of Programs, Publications and Public Relations. She has worked on staff at the National Headquarters since 2000. Her previ-ous positions held were Programs Coordinator and Program Specialist in the same department. In a 1985 she briefly worked on staff in the Secretarial pool. Soror McCrea is a member of the Federal City Alumnae Chapter and was initiated into the Beta Iota Chapter at the University of the District of Columbia in spring 1983. Soror Aaisha Rogers has also been promoted as the Director of Tech-nology Services. She began her career at Headquarters in 2010, starting as the senior analyst for the Information Systems Department (now Technology Services). Soror Rogers previ-ously served as Coordinator of the Infor-mation Systems Department.
