Soror Jeanine Henderson Arnett joined the National Headquarters team as the Executive Director in July 2017. Soror Arnett assumed this role at the close of the 53rd National Convention and the retirement of our Sisterhood's longtime previous Executive Director, Soror Rose McKinney. In her role, Soror Arnett is responsible for the daily management and operation of the National Headquarters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she provides supportive leadership to the National President & CEO, the National Executive Committee and the National Executive Board. She is charged with implementing the programs and policies of the organization.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Soror Arnett is a graduate of Syracuse University, where she was initiated into the Sorority in the spring of 1999 at the Kappa Lambda Chapter in the Historic Eastern region. She has been an active member of several alumnae chapters and currently is a member of the Loudoun County Alumnae Chapter (VA) where she happily serves in the Sensational South Atlantic region.
A former Capitol Hill staffer and senior government relations professional, Soror Arnett brings over seventeen (17) years of experience in public policy, government relations (federal, state & local), advocacy, public affairs and corporate communications. With a proven track record of success across multiple subject matter areas within the policy and business arenas, Soror Arnett has excelled in programmatic strategic design and organizational administration. Immediately prior to her appointment at National Headquarters, Soror Arnett served as the Chief of Staff for Soror Phyllis J. Randall, Chair at-large of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.
Soror Arnett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and African American studies from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and a Masters of Arts degree in Political Management and Legislative Affairs from the Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University.
Mrs. Arnett is a loving wife and mother of three vivacious and dynamic little ladies.
Dorcas WashingtonDeputy Executive Director
On Oct. 31,2016, Soror Dorcas Washington joined the Headquarters staff as the Deputy Executive Director. Soror Washington is the first Deputy Executive Director since the 1990s when the organization last included the position in its managerial structure.
As Deputy Executive Director, Soror Washington will provide operational leadership in the areas of Finance, Technology, Membership, Intellectual Properties, Programs, Public Relations and Events. She is tasked with ensuring that the team at the National Headquarters provides efficient and effective services to members, chapters, National Executive Board members and the National President.
In preparation for her assignment as Deputy Executive Director, Soror Washington spent more than 25 years managing people and processes in public and private environments. While her degree is in Human Resources Management, her experience includes contract management, event planning, account management, customer relations and budget management. She describes herself as a transformational leader specializing in the art of identifying and developing talent to exceed expectations. Dorcas was initiated into the Kappa Upsilon Chapter at Auburn University on November 24, 1985. She has been an active member of alumnae chapters in two regions and has held a position on the Executive Committee in each. Soror Washington serves as the Immediate Past President and chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Tallahassee Alumnae Chapter. She is also certified as a DID trainer, membership intake trainer and collegiate chapter advisor.
